Two mysteries and a dud, let's see which is which...
Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn was goooood. After reading Gone Girl last summer, I wanted to read her previous novels, but they've been checked out! I finally grabbed this one and it's weird and odd and absorbing and suspenseful and good. I don't want to give anything away, but it features two dead little girls, a journalist returning home, family secrets and a whole lotta weirdness. Highly recommended, especially if you liked Gone Girl.
Play Dead by Harlan Coben was an audiobook I picked up, and it was one of Coben's older novels (like, circa 1986, I think). Still, though it wasn't as smooth as his later novels, I still thought it was interesting and absorbing. Worth the time to listen!
The First Affair by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus was WRETCHED. Disjointed, stupid, not well written, utterly boring and I was unable to finish it. They should have started and ended with The Nanny Diaries..
