An Apple a Day by Caroline Taggart
This is another "Reader's Digest" title, sent to me by the fine folks at FSB, and since I enjoyed Taggart's other title (The Classics), I was happy to read this one as well!
Taggart follows her same formula - each proverb is given a dictionary-style entry, usually not more than a paragraph or two. The entries trace the history of the proverb, describes what it means, and usually summarizes similiar sayings. This, of course, is done is a fun, pithy way.
Taggart's book are informative while still being light, funny while being educational - a great combination! This isn't a book to just sit and *read*, but rather to read a few entries at a time before moving on to something else.
