A Couple of Non-Fic Book Reviews...

Making Toast by Roger Rosenblatt

I was looking for a fairly short audiobook to pop in while I've been working on my "spring cleaning" around the house, and this non-fiction memoir fit the bill. Rosenblatt details the year he and his wife spent with their three grandchildren after their daughter Amy, a healthy 38-year-old doctor, collapsed and died suddenly. They move into her house with her widower husband, help raise the children and cope with their loss together. This is a quiet, gentle memoir of a difficult time...

Delivering Happiness by Tony Hsieh

The media has been raving about this memoir, written by Zappos.com CEO and internet wunderkind Hsieh, who is a millionaire many times over from his internet companies and sales. This is part his "get rich" story, part the struggles to get Zapppos going, and part lecture on how Zappos has such a great "culture" and why it is one of the nation's best companies to work for. I found a few gems, but otherwise, it wasn't an engaging to me as I expected after all the hype. Or maybe I wish I could sell a business to Amazon for $1 billion. Glad I read it, but wouldn't reread....
