Book Review: Little Bee by Chris Cleave

Little Bee by Chris Cleave

I'll be completely honest...I'm still not sure what I thought of this novel.

The inside blurb tells you absolutely nothing, except that this novel features two women and it's "magical".

What this novel featured, for me, was crushing sadness, horrific scenes of violence, a rushed pace and a lack of resolution - and it's hard to "love" a book like that, though I can appreciate it in some ways.

In a nutshell, Little Bee is a Nigerian refugee in England, seeking out a British couple who she encountered on a beach in Nigeria a few years before. Little Bee is a little too perfect and puritanical, and the couple could do with a few hours of good therapy, in my opinion.

It's hard to recommend a book that I can't even really summarize for you, but to say I'm glad I read it, I didn't really enjoy it, though, and I don't plan to read it ever again. How's that? :-(
