Book Review Roundup

Time for another lightning round of book reviews, so look alive, people! ;-)

Firestorm by Nevada Barr

It's been ages since I read this older "Anna Pigeon" novel, and it was just as good as I remembered - plus, it was my first Anna Pigeon narration, read by the incomparable Barbara Rosenblat. Recommended!

Cross Country Quilters by Jennifer Chiaverini

The next book in the "Elm Creek Quilters" series - barely touched on the original quilt group at all, instead told the story of some of the camp attendees. Another easy read...

Three Little Words by Ashley Rhodes-Courter

This is a YA nonfiction book about Ashley, who spent many years in foster homes before finding an adoptive family. I liked the part about the foster homes and her experiences, but lost interest towards the end...

Asta in the Wings by Jan Elizabeth Watson

This is just a really strange book, yet compelling reading. Asta and Orion are "isolates" - two children kept in their house by their mother, who fears germs and plague outside. But when their mother disappears, they must venture out into the world. Interesting reading, but not my favorite for some reason...
